Welcome to the PHOTOFLUX website
PHOTOFLUX is a research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant 2022-2027, and directed by Dr. Shari Van Wittenberghe at the Universitat de València, Spain.
The PHOTOFLUX project aims to understand and quantify the dynamic plant adaptation which allow a quantitative assessment of photosynthesis optimization in a changing global context. The project is framed within the developments of ESA’s 8th Earth Explorer FLuorescence EXplorer (FLEX) mission that is specifically designed to globally measure Sun-Induced chlorophyll Fluorescence (SIF) emission from terrestrial vegetation.
We are part of the Laboratory of Earth Observation (LEO) and the Image Processing Laboratory (IPL) at the University of Valencia. Located at the UV Parc Científic, we provide excellent facilities to conduct state-of-the-art experimental and applied research.
Our project combines the fields of plant physiology and remote sensing to retrieve quantitative photosynthesis estimates.
